On June 29, 2007 the law firm of Gianni Petoyan filed a lawsuit on behalf of a client against Guidant Corporation in the Superior Court of California, for the County of Los Angeles. The suit, which was later removed to Federal Court alleges product liability against the company for a defective cardiac pacemaker implanted into the Plaintiff. Laura Gianni, a partner at the law firm, stated in June of 2005, Guidant Corporation recalled over 100,000 implantable defibrillators due to an internal short circuit which could lead to a serious, life-threatening event. Ms.Gianni also stated that in July 2005, Guidant recalled an additional 28,000 cardiac pacemakers due to a defective seal, permitting moisture to interfere with electronic circuits. The FDA has classified the recall ad Class I, resulting in a reasonable probability of serious adverse health consequences.

On February 26, 2007 the law firm of Gianni Petoyan filed a lawsuit on behalf of a client against Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc., in the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, alleging product liability against the company for a defective birth control patch sold to the Plaintiff. Laura Gianni, a partner at the law firm, stated that since its introduction in 2002, over four million used the patch as their sole means of preventing pregnancy. Ms.Gianni cited a recent Associated Press article which reported the FDA found a 300% increase in blood clot related incidents associated with the patch. In November 2005 and again in September 2006, the FDA warned Women the patch exposes users to 60% more estrogen than birth control pills with an increase incidence of thromboembolic injuries.
